Great News! New CDC mask guidelines have been issued. Effective immediately, Immanuel will follow the new guidelines, which allow people who are FULLYvaccinated to forego wearing masks in most settings, including many indoor venues. Immanuel will continue to maintain social distancing requirements, but if you are fully vaccinated you will not need to wear a mask. If you prefer to wear a mask, please do what is comfortable for you. As you enter the building, you may be asked if you have been vaccinated or not. If you have not been vaccinated, you will be required to wear a mask and the church will have masks available.
ORIGINAL NOTICE WHEN IUCC REOPENED
Council approved these “Health and Safety Guidelines” to prepare us for gathering in Worship. Please read and follow these guidelines if you plan to attend Worship in person. It will help minimize exposure and make our transition smoother.
Member and Attender Safety
First and foremost, we want to keep our members, attenders, friends and guests safe. If you have pre-existing or underlying health concerns, or, if you are or have been sick, please do not attend Worship and take the chance of spreading the virus. God understands if you cannot attend Worship under these circumstances, so please do not fret. We will continue to broadcast Worship on our Facebook Live page each week at 10:45 AM. If you cannot view Worship at that time, remember it is recorded, so you can watch it later, when convenient.
Understand that “Church Will be Different for a While”
Unfortunately, we can’t shake hands, hug, sit and chat with a coffee, or go to class together. We’ll be all spread out in the Sanctuary and singing through a mask. Have faith! Praise God we can be back together again! Welcome back!
In the event a member who attended a Worship Service learns that they were COVID-19 positive at the time they attended, that person should immediately contact Pastor Kay (513-549-8252) or Kathy/Steve (859-525-9152). The congregation will be notified by Group E-mail right away, and the affected member(s) should follow their health care provider’s instructions and remain quarantined accordingly. Names will not be made public, unless the affected person approves, to help those who were attending ascertain if they were in close contact with that person (to help the third party decide a course of action along with their health care provider). Anyone who is sick with symptoms, or suspects they may have COVID-19, should not attend Worship, quarantine for at least two weeks, and contact their health care provider for instructions.
At the front door/ inside lobby: Parish Nurse Laura Reis
Church doors will open at 10:30 AM for the congregation. Worship begins at 10:45. Laura will take temperatures, review any health issues with each attender and ask whether the COVID vaccine has been received yet. (The CDC considers a person to have a fever when s/he has a measured temperature of 100.4 ° F or higher.) Everyone must use the offered hand sanitizer when entering church.
Greeter will assist everyone to wear a proper mask.
Wearing a mask is required. The church will supply one if needed. The Greeter will remind attenders to practice social distancing. You will be asked to please go directly into the Sanctuary. The Holy Grounds, coffee and pastry service, classes for adults and children, back offices, and the Fellowship Hall are closed, except for staff necessarily fulfilling their duties.
Inside Sanctuary:
A Deacon will assist you with seating. Pews will be marked so that there will be empty pews between open pews. You will be reminded to enter pews via center aisle, and exit to the side aisles after Worship. Family units may sit together in the same pew. Maintain 6’ between family units, or use another pew. Deacons will assist late arrivals to a safe seat.
Worship Materials Table: Elders
A table will be placed inside the Sanctuary, permitting attenders to drop their offering / tithe envelopes upon entering. We will not be printing Bulletins; we’ll use the PowerPoint screen. The announcement list will be posted on Facebook and the IUCC website. Yellow Prayer Card / Connections Cards will be available; place in the offering tray before Worship begins. On first Sundays, a Holy Communion packet will be available for each attender to take to their seat.
Liturgist and Pastor Kay will use the center pulpit so that the live camera will not need to be moved. There is enough space between the pulpit and congregation to lead Worship without a mask, so that everyone can hear clearly.
A member of the Media Team will operate the PowerPoint program from the Media Center in the balcony.
Feel free to come forward to light a prayer candle before Worship. Come forward one at a time.
Our monthly Rite of Healing and Anointingwill be continued on Third Sundays, with those to be blessed remaining in place in their pews.
If you find it necessary to use the restroom, you must re-sanitize the surfaces you touched, for the next person’s safety. One at a time, please.
Remember that if we must, changes will be made in these protocols as needed or when directed by the Kentucky Department of Health or other circumstances.
Thank You!
Thank you and may God Bless you for your continued dedication to and support of Immanuel UCC—a family church where anyone and everyone can Connect, Grow, and Serve!
